THE GLIMMERS
Back in 1987, Mo & Benoelie were DJing for Ghent's youth every weekend, playing all sorts of music which was loved in those days. Back then they already reasoned that they should never shut themselves off from any style of music, that every blend, every genre, every movement was theirs for the taking. They played 'other' stuff, different stuff. Their sound developed into an amalgamation of new beat, funk, dub, house, techno, party hip hop, new wave, edgy post-punk disco and more was a revelation to those bored of linear mix albums. Numerous releases came through Eskimo Records, a Fabric Live comp and of course DJ-Kicks. The Glimmers have remixed names as eclectic as their sound - Bloc Party, The Killers, New Order, Roxy Music, Isolee, Phoenix, Pop Del Arte, Snow Patrol, Calvin Harris, Shirley Bassey and The Chemical Brothers.

CHICKEN LIPS
The sound of Chicken Lips is known as „disco dub“ and it derives from a mix of disco, boogie, 80s synthesizer music, and tricks from the dub chamber. A groove-inflected, instrumental sound that feels like it´s been handmade. There is a rock n´roll influence as well, with big drums, huge echo sounds, banging bass guitars and small melody fragments. A sound that moves straight forward, yet is marked by a special groove and a very unique feeling. A discography that includes remixes for everyone from the Stereo MC's to Plagroup, Robbie Williams to Mark Ronson Chicken Lips fouding members Dean Meredith and Andy Meecham keep busy in the studio whilst collaborator and DJ Stevie Kotey takes to the road.

JOAKIM
Joakim is one of the most illustrious people that the world of (not only) electronic music has produced. He started at age 6 with the piano, took lessons with Abdel Rahman El Bacha, a famous concert pianist. Later, Joakim discovered the possibilities of the synthesizer. After an experimental phase of only a few months, his debut “Tigersushi” (1999) was released, which 4Hero, Next Evidence, DJ Medhi and others, cited on “Tigersushi Remixed” (2000), and which also became the name of the label Joakim founded in 2001. The fun and musically free spirited album “Monsters & Silly Songs” (2007) will be followed up in summer 2009. 'My Best Remixes' is out now on Tiger Sushi.

CIRCLESQUARE
Circlesquare is back. Circlesquare is Vancouver, British Columbia's Jeremy Shaw, now living in Berlin. Don't be surprised, though, if he doesn't sound like any of his citymates: for the length of his career, Circlesquare has never sounded quite like anyone but Circlesquare. Last heard from over two years ago, Circlesquare set hearts racing with a set of records released between 1999 and 2006 on Trevor Jackson's Output label including debut album 'Pre Earthquake Anthems' (2003). The hotly anticipated follow up album 'Songs About Dancing on Drugs' (Jan 2009) features remixes from Konrad Black, Mat Jonson (Cobblestone Jazz) and Trevor Jackson.

SWAYZAK
Swayzak - some kind of bastardized patrick swayzee , men with hang ups – David 'Brun' Brown and James Taylor (kind of ) formed in 1993 ,way before the internet boom and back when samplers had massive 2meg memory and a computer was something to heat the room ! Since 1997 they have been working hard on avoiding full time employment and releasing records of sorts. “Some Other Country” (2007) showed a new maturity in their sound. Swayzak always loved their echo pedal, but in their tenth year of existence, their dub-techno attains a new, compositional dimension. “We’re more interested in atmosphere,” says Brun...

TREVOR JACKSON
Trevor Jackson is a London based creative, working in many fields including graphic design, art direction, moving image, composing, remixing and production, installations and performance. His career began in the early 90's forming the design company BITE IT! creating record covers for early dance and hip hop releases for the likes of Stereo MC'S, Jungle Brothers and Todd Terry. In 1996 Trevor formed a new label Output Recordings, introducing international artists such as Four Tet, Black Strobe, Colder Mu, Circlesquare, The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem as well as his own acclaimed Playgroup project.

!K7 Records announces 2008 Popkomm Event: !K7 Live @ Tape, Thursday 9th October

Amidst the hustle and bustle that this year’s Popkomm convention promises to be, !K7, Berlin’s finest independent label for electronic music, will host an equally rousing showcase. After last year’s !K7's Popkomm event, that brought the likes of Hot Chip, Stateless and Joakim to Berlin, this time round promises to be a true treat for music connoisseurs and those looking for sophisticated yet bold performances. !K7 Live will take over Tape on Thursday, October 9th.

Circlesquare, from Vancouver, will mark his debut as the label’s newest signing. He will open the night with his signature haunting minimalism, which borders on an electronic take on classic shoegaze sounds. Fellow Canadian Michael Milosh will follow, presenting his brand new album "iii". Milosh approaches electronic music with a singer-songwriter’s attitude, creating a trippy and soulful melange of ideas, sounds, and moods, accented with his lush voice. Bomb the Bass will take the night in a slightly more dark direction, showcasing their newest work, "Future Chaos" with a full live band and visuals. The influential project of Tim Simenon ("Beat Dis" was at the forefront of acid house) gets reimagined – scaled back to the basic, Bomb The Bass’ newest evokes a fresh take on the vintage sound of dance music.

Highly-acclaimed producer and remixer Henrik Schwarz returns to another !K7 Live event this year, with his notorious jazz meets techno sets. Closing out the live performances will be Mathew Jonson, one third of the Canadian improvisational jazz/electronica group Cobblestone Jazz. A collector of analogue and vintage instruments, Mathew Jonson focuses on creating a live improvisation in a variety of styles, old and new.

In room 2, !K7 Live will also offer back-to-back funk, disco, soul and 'anything goes' DJ Sets by Boozoo Bajou, Quinton Scott of Strut and Pete of BBE. The Nuremberg based producers Boozoo Bajou will present cuts from their forthcoming 3rd artist album, due in early 2009. Strut, one of the seminal labels focusing on history of dance music, was re-launched by !K7 In early 2008. Strut’s A&R man Quinton Scott, a knowledgeable and experienced DJ, will present highlights of Strut’s back catalogue.

As part of the new !K7 Label Group’s event division, this !K7 Live party is just one of the many events coming your way in the next few months.
